For those in states where sports gambling is legal, I like to use Underdog Fantasy as my primary DFS app. I like the main Best Ball style of play, and their Champions Pick ‘Em format has the best interface of the DFS apps.
To promote more content, I will make a quick post on days when there’s a large slate of games, make Champions “picks” for that particular day, and briefly explain my reasoning.
Here’s the first version of my Underdog Fantasy Champions picks for Thursday, November 21st.
Chris Kreider, NYR, Higher 2.5 Shots
Kreider hasn’t scored many points this year (nine), but his SH% is up to 19.6, and his 2.7 SOG/G is similar to last year. Calgary gives up 30.3 SA/G, the sixth-highest in the NHL. I think Kreider should hit that 3+ shot mark against the Flames, even on the road.
Aleksander Barkov, FLA, Higher 2.5 Shots
Barkov has 17 points in his last nine games and has a SH% of 15%. The Blackhawks have the 8th-highest SA/G at 30%, and their GDiff is -14. Florida lost a tough one in Winnipeg on Tuesday, and I think they play tonight with a vengeance, Barkov particularly.
Pavel Buchnevich, STL, Higher 0.5 Points
Neither St. Louis nor San Jose is good. However, San Jose just played in Dallas last night, and its -24 GDiff is second-worst in the league. The Sharks blue line also allows 33.1 SA/G, which means the Blues will get plenty of chances on goal this evening. Buch has 12 points this year, and I think he adds to that total tonight.
David Pastrnak, BOS, Higher 0.5 Goals
In a recent post, I discussed Boston's coaching change and how it would affect the Bruins’ front-line skaters, Pastrnak being one of them. Fantasy managers who roster Pasta should still be optimistic about his outlook, and he has a solid matchup today against a Utah Hockey Club that is allowing 3.44 GA/G.
